The FAA avoids a second shutdown and SAFETEA-LU gets extended (again) until March. The price? Language in the new surface transportation bill allowing states to opt out of previously mandatory cross subsidies, which provided funding for things like pedestrian walkways and bike lanes. SFpark will change parking rates monthly to encourage the use of public transportation and evenly distribute available parking spaces throughout the city.
I wonder how this system would fare during a large event, e.g. any Apple event. Maybe a combination of truly dynamic pricing, changing as supply changes by the hour or minute, and increasing prices leading up to a large event could improve...

Beautiful (and useful) data animation.
Perhaps resizing the hubs to correspond to the number of bikes there (and maybe changing the color of hubs to show full/free space/empty) could improve it further? Could also make for a great mobile app when you’re looking for a place to drop the bike back off.
It’s information like this that we need to take advantage of to make the next steps...
